Professor Dr. Saeed Shafqat is an eminent social scientist of international repute. In recognition of his meritorious services, the Board of Governors at FCCU honored him with the title of Distinguished Professor in November 2023. He served as the founding Director of the Centre for Public Policy and Governance (CPPG) from 2007- 2025. His contributions to education, research, and teaching earned him the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in 2018, and in 2019, the French government bestowed upon him the title of Chevalier des Palmes Académiques for his advancement of culture and education.
Dr. Shafqat served on the Board of Governors of the National School of Public Policy (2016-2019) and frequently speaks at the National Defense University and National Management College. He was the Quaid-e-Azam Distinguished Professor and Chair at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (2001-2005) and remained an Adjunct Professor, South Asian Studie until 2009. Additionally, he was a Visiting Professor of South Asian Studies at the College of Wooster in 2012. As Chief Instructor at the Civil Services Academy of Pakistan (1988-2001), he trained over 1,500 federal civil servants. His leadership roles included President of the Institute of Regional Studies (1990) and Executive Director of the National Institute of Population Studies (2005-2007), President of the Population Association of Pakistan (PAP),2008- 2010.
